Liquid Storage Tank
The business of A & B Welding, Inc. revolves around a single product: welded above ground steel tanks used for storage of liquid fertilizer, fuel, water, chemicals and other bulk commodities.

We offer shop built and field erected tanks from 5 thousand gallon up to 3 million gallons to meet our customers’ needs. Our tanks meet or exceed API 650 Standards and have increased sidewall thickness, extra heavy rafter systems, recirculation systems and in-tank recirculation (sparge) systems.

Along with building new tanks, we also clean, inspect and test and repair existing tanks.

Cleaning: It is the customer’s responsibility to remove the product out of the tank. Once that is complete, we issue a “Confined Space Permit” and test the tank atmosphere for safety purposes. When the safety regulations have been met, we are able remove any product the customer was unable to remove into the customer’s tank or transport. The tank is then thoroughly pressure-washed.

Inspection/Testing: After the tank has been thoroughly cleaned, the tank will need to be inspected. First, we make a visual inspection of the tank. If there are any areas of concern, these areas are documented and supplied to the customer with our recommendations for repair. If the customer prefers a more thorough inspection, vacuum box, leak penetrant, and radiographic testing are available and if there are any concerns, these will also be documented and supplied to the customer with our recommendations for repair.
Repair: We are available to a customer when any repairs need to be done on their tank. Some examples of these repairs are pitting areas, worn welds, worn steel and corrosive areas.

Tank Floor Coatings
After the tank cleaning and inspections/testing have been completed, the tank floor may have some areas of concern that need attention. Depending on the condition of the tank floor and sidewall, a coating may be applied instead of replacing it. Before applying the coating, the floor and sidewall would need to be sandblasted to ensure all corrosive or flakiness is eliminated and all abrasive material is cleaned out of the tank. After the tank is thoroughly cleaned, the coating is installed over the entire tank floor and a portion of the sidewall or the entire sidewall depending on the customer’s preference.
